Every service provider should offer customers the best possible service. But as the title of this article suggests, you can’t have everything, including your cake, and eat it all too. Every service, including a tax return preparation engagement, has to balance speed, price, and quality.

Quality, of course, has a minimum threshold that most professionals must exceed in all engagements or risk losing their license to practice their particular profession, like accounting, law or medicine. But there can still be degrees of accuracy and care above the minimum required threshold amount that is worth paying extra fees to receive from a professional service provider.

The next time you solicit the service of a professional provider, keep in mind that you can have two out of three with the above minimum of quality, but don’t expect fastest, cheapest, and best all at the same time.
